International scientific practical training-STEP

This training module of the STEP Project took place in "Geutebruck building" at Leipzig University, from June 02 to 05. the objective of the training was to provide the STEP project partners staff with practical examples about the the day-to-day innovation support services practices. Staff members from Leipzig University presented the HTWK internal organization, norms, procedures, and services supporting the transfer of research results produced within the university to the society, and the management and exploitation of the associated intellectual property rights. A real life example of successful university-industry cooperation of the HTWK department (resulting in the creation of a Spin-off) was presented. EU partners also offered useful information on alternative European models and structures for innovation support and knowledge transfer.

The training was opened with a welcome speech by Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Krabbes – HTWK Leipzig - he talked about the cooperation with the countries of the Mediterranean region under tempus EU Projects, and Prof. Dr. Hänßgen – HTWK Leipzig who talked about the university and its success in the field of cooperation with industry, and project coordinator -Dr. Imad Ibrik, who spoke about the project “STEP” which aims to achieve a mutual benefit between universities and the private sector and establishing a partnership and a strong network of cooperation between them and to promote scientific research. he highlighted that this project will serve as a nucleus for university - industry partnership in Palestine.

  • Technology Transfer Model at Leipzig University
  • Further Technology Models in Germany by comparison
  • Practical examples
  • Strategic development of regional Technology Transfer
  • Sustainability and Technology Transfer
  • IPR Issues and exploitation activities at Leipzig University
  • International Cooperation of Universities and Technology Offices
  • Implementing Entrepreneurship- and Technology Transfer- Infrastructure
  • Innovation and Project Management issues within (EU) research projects

The main content and experience providers were experts from Leipzig University as well as Directors from local companies involved in Technology Transfer and (EU) research projects, in order to discuss the scientific and industrial aspects. This training provided a wide range about the daily work of the Technology Transfer Office at Leipzig University and exemplified practical experience, local success stories and trends in international Technology Transfer Management.
